5 Instagram Tips for Businesses

5 Instagram Tips for Businesses

Over the holidays I spotted a few small (and big!) businesses missing vital information on their Instagram profiles. Here are some quick and easy tips that anyone can implement to improve their interactions with customers.

1. Who are you?

Make sure you state clearly what your business sells or what you do in your bio.

Don’t be vague or clever, make it easy to understand at a glance. Pretend you’re someone who’s never heard of you!

2. Use your name

If you click ‘edit profile’ you’ll find two fields at the very top: Name and Username.

If your User Name (which is usually just your company name) doesn’t already say what you do, use the Name field to add a more descriptive title.

This helps people find you in search especially when there are several similar named businesses around the world.

3. Where are you?

This is SO important and is the one thing that is most often forgotten!

Make sure your Instagram bio has your contact details, including which city/country you’re in, physical address if you have a store or restaurant, and most importantly for stores and restaurants - your OPENING HOURS.

Customers come to your profile for information, don’t make them guess or have to call just to find out if you’re open on Saturday.

4. Stockists

If you have products stocked in retailers, list your stockists.

Even if you have your own online store, some people like to see and touch before they buy, or to avoid delivery fees. Help them find your products!

Stockists can be mentioned in your bio, or if there are a few make a Story Highlight clearly labeled Stockists so that people can find your product.

Every sale is a sale, and happy stockists will also keep ordering.

5. Pricing

Say how much it costs. Just do it.

There seems to be a strange hesitancy to not mention prices on Instagram, but making people DM to ask the price of something is a barrier to making a sale.

Be upfront, mention prices on your posts.

* The only exception for this is custom made products where prices vary on customer requirements.
